Adenike Iyelolu named Registrar of Ships in Nigeria
Nigeria’s Marine and Blue Economy Minister, Adegboyega Oyetola, has appointed Barr. Adenike Iyelolu as Registrar of Ships for a four-year term based on recommendations from Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency Director General Dr. Dayo Mobereola. Iyelolu, a Deputy Director at NIMASA with over 25 years of legal experience in maritime law and corporate governance, succeeds retired Barr. Tajudeen Giwa.
The Nigerian Ship Registry position carries direct reporting responsibilities to the Director General under the NIMASA Act 2007, which mandates ministerial approval for such appointments. Agency spokesperson Osagie Edward confirmed that the selection aims to strengthen maritime administration and boost the registry’s international standing through planned reforms.
