Eurogold partners with MUAM to boost Uganda’s gold industry
A Ugandan gold refining company partnered with an association representing independent miners to upgrade production quality and improve transparency in the sector. Eurogold formalized an agreement with the Mubende United Artisanal Miners at its Kampala headquarters to refine domestically extracted gold to 99.9 percent purity, meeting international market requirements. The collaboration aims to provide fair payment to small-scale miners while encouraging environmentally responsible extraction methods.
Gold represents a major export commodity for Uganda, generating foreign currency and employment across mining regions. Company director Benard Feni said the arrangement signals a transformation for the industry through cooperation focused on quality improvement and sustainable practices aligned with the country’s 2040 development goals. Officials from both organizations stated the memorandum will strengthen connections between large-scale operations and artisanal producers while promoting ethical sourcing standards.
The partnership between Eurogold and the miners’ association is expected to advance industrialization efforts, stabilize foreign exchange earnings and support broader economic development across Uganda. Representatives emphasized that the initiative will benefit communities in mining areas by establishing higher production standards and fostering responsible resource management.
