ORICO’s Omini Pro rips off Mac Pro look for $379
Chinese manufacturer ORICO has introduced a compact desktop computer that borrows heavily from the design language of Apple’s 2019 Mac Pro tower. The Omini Pro features an aluminum chassis with the distinctive perforated front panel and integrated handles that defined the Mac Pro’s appearance, though scaled down to mini PC dimensions at 139 by 61 by 185 millimeters.
The system runs on an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS processor, an eight-core chip based on Zen 4 architecture with clock speeds ranging from 3.8 to 5.1 gigahertz. Its integrated Radeon 780M graphics enable light gaming capabilities. Connection options include dual 2.5-gigabit Ethernet ports, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and two USB4 Type-C ports. A 120-watt gallium nitride power adapter supplies electricity to the components.
ORICO listed the barebones version on JD.com at 3,899 yuan, equivalent to $547, but is offering a promotional price of 2,699 yuan or $379 during pre-sales. Buyers can configure the machine with up to two terabytes of PCIe 4.0 solid-state storage and 32 gigabytes of DDR5 memory. Orders began on Monday, with official sales starting on Saturday, November 30.
