FG targets 20000 jobs with NJFP 2.0
The federal government plans to generate at least 20,000 jobs each year through the second phase of the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme. Vice President Kashim Shettima will launch the initiative on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The program connects graduates with work experience, mentorship, and training in agriculture, technology, renewable energy, manufacturing, and creative industries.
The first phase, launched in 2022, helped more than 14,000 young people through 12-month paid fellowships. The European Union and United Nations Development Programme support the expanded version that will place a minimum of 24,000 fellows over 10 months. Deputy Chief of Staff Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia said participants can pursue employment through professional placements or start businesses with enterprise support. EU Ambassador Gautier Mignot said the partnership aims to transform the lives of thousands of young people across the country.
