Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced a temporary reduction of $100 on its entire PlayStation 5 console range for the holiday shopping season, affecting the standard edition, digital variant, and the high-end Pro model. American buyers can purchase the digital console for $399.99 and the 1TB disc version for $449.99, while European customers will see savings between €100 and €150, and British shoppers can expect discounts from £90 to £135, depending on the specific hardware.
The Japanese gaming company has also marked down the PlayStation VR2 headset by $100 and applied smaller reductions of $20 to $30 on various peripherals such as controllers, earbuds, and the Portal remote player. The promotional pricing arrives after Sony raised console costs in certain markets earlier this year due to inflationary pressures, making the current campaign a potentially strategic move to address consumer response and capitalize on seasonal demand.
