Finance Minister to present 2026 budget to Parliament
Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson will deliver the 2026 budget statement to Parliament on Wednesday, November 13, 2025, after lawmakers grant approval. The presentation represents the first complete fiscal year plan under President John Dramani Mahama since taking office and establishes economic priorities after months of stabilization work.
Ministry officials say the budget breaks with the 2025 transitional framework, which maintained policies from the previous government. The new document emphasizes job creation, broader growth and responsible spending through investment in sectors that support productivity and youth employment.
The minister conducted meetings with business leaders, advocacy organizations and international partners to develop spending plans and policy measures. Sources indicate the administration may eliminate certain fees such as the pandemic levy to encourage business activity and household spending.
Ghana expects to complete its International Monetary Fund program in May 2026. Analysts will examine debt payment strategies, deficit reduction plans, and funding commitments for infrastructure, schools, and hospitals as the government prepares for economic independence from external oversight.
