Florida tops US for aging and young agents
Florida leads America in both young insurance agents and workers nearing retirement. The state employs more than 22,700 agents between the ages of 18 and 25, while 138,000 licensed professionals have passed their 50th birthday. Arizona and West Virginia attract higher percentages of younger workers, while Connecticut and Alabama face aging workforces that signal urgent succession needs.
Texas has 48,480 agents over age 50, and Alabama has 4,886 senior professionals who may soon leave the business. Carriers must prepare for knowledge gaps and client service disruptions as experienced workers retire. Hawaii, New Mexico and Louisiana show balanced age ranges but risk future staffing problems without fresh recruits.
The Insurance Business Agent Insights Dashboard helps companies track workforce changes by state, age group and insurance type. Firms can use the data to predict hiring requirements and build mentorship programs that preserve industry expertise.
