Nigeria, Germany seek results-driven partnership for $1T goal
Budget and Economic Planning Minister Abubakar Atiku Bagudu urged Germany to shift bilateral relations toward measurable outcomes supporting Nigeria’s target of reaching a $1 trillion economy by 2030 during discussions with a Giessen Chamber of Commerce delegation led by Chief Executive Officer Matthias Leder in Abuja. The minister emphasized that President Bola Tinubu’s administration seeks partnerships producing employment, enterprise expansion and institutional development rather than routine diplomatic exchanges, highlighting that legal labor migration and vocational cooperation align with plans to convert the nation’s young population into competitive global talent.
Leder invited Bagudu to deliver the African keynote address at the June 2026 World Meets in Giessen conference while pledging expanded collaboration in technical training and structured migration programs. Acting Permanent Secretary Samson Ebimaro confirmed the ministry will prioritize engagements that strengthen systems and build domestic capacity with lasting effects on development objectives outlined in the forthcoming 2026-2030 National Development Plan.
