GOIL warns public after CEO targeted by fake AI video
Ghanaian petroleum distributor GOIL PLC issued a warning about fraudulent social media content after artificial intelligence was used to create fake footage showing its chief executive promoting a nonexistent investment program. The company stated it never launched any gold ventures or reward initiatives as depicted in the manipulated video featuring Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Edward Abambire Bawa.
GOIL called the fabricated material a criminal effort to damage its reputation and deceive consumers. The firm said it was collaborating with law enforcement and digital security specialists to locate those responsible for the scheme. Management emphasized that decades of established credibility were being exploited through the deceptive campaign.
The petroleum marketer directed the public to ignore the false claims and rely solely on communications from verified company channels. Authentic updates about products and corporate activities can be found at the official website or confirmed social media accounts. GOIL stressed its dedication to honest operations and protecting customer interests while authorities investigate the digital impersonation case.
