Ikea expands smart home lineup with 21 new Matter devices
IKEA introduced 21 new home automation products, all compatible with the Matter connectivity protocol. This collection represents the company’s largest expansion into connected household technology, aiming to simplify setup and reduce expenses for consumers. The range spans illumination solutions, environmental monitoring tools, and management accessories.
Central to this launch is the Kajplats illumination family offering 11 distinct lamp variations. These include traditional screw base types, compact spotlight versions, and decorative clear glass options. Additional items feature motion detection capabilities, entry point monitoring, climate measurement, air quality assessment, and liquid spill alerts. Control options consist of handheld remotes with multiple button configurations and outlet adapters providing power usage tracking.
All components function within the Matter framework, ensuring compatibility across different manufacturer platforms. An updated Dirigera central controller coordinates these devices alongside third-party products. IKEA plans phased availability throughout 2025, focusing on straightforward installation and reasonable pricing rather than complex luxury features.
