India, New Zealand FTA talks drag on as Goyal lands
India’s commerce and industry minister, Piyush Goyal, arrives in New Zealand on Wednesday to advance negotiations for a bilateral free trade pact between the nations. He will hold discussions with Trade Minister Todd McClay as part of efforts to accelerate the agreement and forge stronger economic ties. The Commerce Ministry said Goyal plans meetings with business leaders from both countries to promote private sector partnerships.
Auckland hosts the fourth round of trade talks from Nov. 3 through Nov. 7, representing fresh momentum after months of technical exchanges aimed at producing a balanced deal. Goyal’s schedule features a business forum and gathering with the Indian community living abroad. A conversation between the two ministers will take place with Auckland Business Chamber chief executive Simon Bridges serving as moderator. Topics will cover expanding commercial cooperation, pinpointing emerging economic opportunities and boosting joint work in technology and environmental sustainability.
Representatives from industry groups, commerce organizations and government offices plan to attend the sessions, highlighting strengthening relations and a joint commitment toward building deeper economic collaboration for years ahead.
