India’s electronics exports soar to third spot
India shipped electronics worth $22.2 billion in the first half of its fiscal year, making the category the nation’s third-largest export and positioning it to soon rank second. Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Monday that sales abroad grew 42 percent from a year earlier, with about half tied to Apple iPhone shipments.
The sector climbed from seventh place in fiscal 2022 to third by adding $5.5 billion in value between April and August 2025. Government manufacturing incentives helped transform India from buying smartphones abroad to selling them overseas, with phone exports alone exceeding 1 lakh crore rupees through August.
Total exports from India rose 5.19 percent to $346.1 billion in the five-month period. Smartphone shipments reached an estimated $1.8 billion in September, nearly double the amount from the same month last year.
