India’s passenger vehicle exports up 18% in H1 FY2026
India shipped 18 percent more passenger vehicles abroad in the six months through September compared with the same period last year, reaching 445,884 units. The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers reported that strong demand from Middle Eastern and Latin American buyers drove the increase.
Maruti Suzuki India led all exporters, sending 205,763 vehicles overseas, a 40 percent jump from the previous year. Hyundai Motor India followed with 99,540 units, while Nissan Motor India exported 37,605 vehicles.
Utility vehicle shipments climbed 26 percent to 211,373 units, and passenger car exports rose 12 percent to 229,281 units. Van shipments grew 36.5 percent to 5,230 units.
Indian manufacturers reported sales gains across 24 countries despite reduced shipments to the United States after September tariff increases. Strong markets included South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Egypt, Mexico, Russia and Canada.
