Justice Pratibha Singh chairs WIPO judges board
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman praised Delhi High Court Justice Pratibha Singh after her selection to lead the World Intellectual Property Organization’s Advisory Board of Judges. Singh will serve from 2025 through 2027 as the first Indian and Asian representative to chair the panel. The finance minister noted Singh’s expertise in intellectual property cases and her authorship of a comprehensive patent law reference text.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal called the appointment a significant achievement that reflects the country’s expanding influence in global intellectual property affairs. Singh joined the Delhi High Court as a permanent judge in 2017 and later chaired its intellectual property division from 2021 to 2022. She started legal practice in 1991 and has appeared before the Supreme Court, Patent Office, and IP Appellate Board throughout her career. The organization promotes fair intellectual property systems that support innovation and economic development worldwide.
