Kaduna, China to launch $450 million poultry project
Kaduna State will host the initial rollout of the National Integrated Poultry Project, an agricultural investment facilitated through collaboration between Nigeria and China that expects to produce more than $450 million in revenue while establishing over 350,000 employment opportunities throughout its supply chain. Governor Uba Sani met with Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership officials and Chinese Ambassador Yu Dunhai to advance the bilateral arrangement, which secured more than 7,000 hectares of state farmland for immediate implementation.
Partnership Director-General Joseph Tegbe emphasized that the program will lower egg prices for consumers while supporting local farmers through domestically produced feed supplies, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic priorities. Construction begins in December 2025 on facilities spanning 10,000 hectares that will combine maize and soybean farming with large-scale poultry operations, generating 50,000 direct positions and an additional 300,000 indirect roles across related industries under the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund framework.
