Keyamo urges Nigerian carriers to explore aircraft leasing opportunities
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, has encouraged Nigerian carriers to take advantage of emerging opportunities in aircraft dry leasing. He highlighted that major leasing companies and manufacturers are now willing to collaborate with local airlines due to the Federal Government’s efforts to restore confidence in the sector.
Speaking at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, Keyamo celebrated Air Peace’s historic dry lease transaction with AerCap, marking a shift after a decade of reluctance by lessors due to payment defaults. He also outlined plans for a Nigerian Aircraft Leasing Company to further support local carriers, and commended the government for enhancing the aviation sector’s legal framework and attracting global aircraft deals.
