Lagos extends building permit amnesty for property owners
Lagos State extended its building permit amnesty initiative through the end of December after property owners requested additional time to regularize unauthorized construction. Physical Planning and Urban Development Commissioner Oluyinka Olumide announced that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had approved the 61-day window beginning on November 1, marking the third such program during his administration. Participants can obtain retroactive approvals without standard penalty assessments by submitting ownership documentation, architectural plans, structural assessments and tax compliance records.
The commissioner noted applications will undergo evaluation against municipal planning standards, with permits issued only for structures meeting safety requirements. Property owners may file submissions at district offices across the 57 local government areas or through the electronic portal at the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority headquarters in Ikeja.
