Land grab drama heats up at Ijere estate
Realty Point Limited has reported an illegal invasion of its 76-acre property in the Pakuro Scheme 1 area of Ijere by suspected land grabbers. The company’s Managing Director, Mr. Debo Adejana, stated that this occupation violates a Supreme Court-supported title and a standing interim injunction from the state High Court. He expressed concern that the situation could provoke significant community unrest.
The company’s legal representative, Barr Gbenga Eretan, clarified that the Court of Appeal has affirmed Realty Point Limited as the legitimate owner of the land. He emphasized that any continued trespassing constitutes contempt of court. Adejana detailed that the firm has notified law enforcement and relevant state authorities, including the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority, about the illegal demolitions of existing structures on the site.
Despite advice from the Office of the Attorney General to maintain the court-ordered status quo, Adejana reported that the opposing party continues its activities. He warned that the company is preparing to initiate contempt proceedings against the violators. The property, which was lawfully sold to numerous buyers and had beacons and structures in place years ago, faces a serious threat from this forcible takeover.
