Teen whiz Ebunoluwa bags N10m UBA prize
A 13-year-old student from Igando Community Senior High School in Lagos, Ebunoluwa Seth Oluwatimilehin, has been named the overall winner of the UBA Foundation’s 15th National Essay Competition. He will receive an educational grant of ten million naira for his future studies at any African university. Oluwatimilehin is the youngest champion in the competition’s history and the first male winner in over eight years.
The Group Managing Director of UBA, Oliver Alawuba, commended the finalists and highlighted the contest’s role in promoting literacy. He also noted that their essays demonstrated the strength found in diversity. The foundation’s Managing Director, Bola Atta, reiterated the initiative’s importance, describing education as a powerful tool for Africa’s advancement.
Second and third places were awarded to Njoku-Kelechi Emerald from Owerri and Bayero Fatima Auwal from Abuja, who received grants of 7.5 million and five million naira, respectively. All twelve finalists in the highly subscribed competition received new laptops and other educational materials.
