Leventis trains 90 NYSC corps members in agribusiness
The Leventis Foundation Nigeria reports that 90 National Youth Service Corps members have participated in agribusiness instruction and practical experience at its educational facilities nationwide, with 40 completing the program and 50 currently enrolled. Executive Director Hope Usieta announced the figures on Friday during the third Agricultural Youths Summit in Abuja, organized jointly with NYSC, while noting that limited agricultural financing remains a significant obstacle for smallholder farmers seeking to expand operations.
NYSC Director-General Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, represented by Ventures Management Director Abe Dankaro, encouraged young Nigerians to pursue agricultural entrepreneurship as a solution to unemployment and food insecurity challenges. Foundation Chairman Ahmed Manti emphasized that enhanced access to credit for farmers and youth-led agricultural enterprises aligns with national goals to increase productivity and achieve food security under Sustainable Development Goals frameworks.
