Microsoft tests mouse vibration feedback in Windows 11
Microsoft has introduced experimental haptic feedback for mice in Windows 11 Insider Preview build 26220.7070, enabling tactile responses during window snapping and object alignment tasks. The system-level feature allows users to adjust vibration intensity through input configuration settings and could expand to gaming applications for enhanced immersion with compatible peripherals.
Hardware support remains extremely limited, with Logitech MX Master 4 representing the sole consumer mouse equipped with a vibration motor, though compatibility with Microsoft’s implementation has not been confirmed. Windows developer Phantomofearth noted the functionality mirrors tactile systems found in game controllers and laptop touchpads, potentially benefiting both productivity workflows and gaming experiences through physical feedback tied to interface interactions or in-game events.
Microsoft has not announced a public release timeline or confirmed participating hardware partners for the haptic signals feature.
