Modi touts India science rise
Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Friday that India is setting new global standards in science and innovation, encompassing Digital India, deep tech, Chandrayaan, and the bioeconomy. He shared a post on X highlighting the nation’s rising confidence and self-reliance, crediting collective efforts for redefining global leadership in these fields.
The post referenced an article by Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, which outlines India’s advances in space, biotechnology, deep tech, and digital transformation over the past decade. Singh recently emphasized the Northeast’s potential to drive the bioeconomy, citing its biodiversity and agro-climatic conditions as ideal for high-value plant-based industries.
At a CSIR-NEIST event in Assam on October 30, he highlighted government initiatives such as the CSIR-Aroma Mission and the CSIR-Floriculture Mission, which combine modern science with traditional knowledge to create employment opportunities, particularly for women and young people. Singh also pointed to the “Purple Revolution” in Jammu and Kashmir as a model for science-led rural transformation and urged Northeastern states to adopt similar approaches to strengthen India’s aroma and floriculture sectors.
