Mogo hits 100k phones in 200 days
Mogo Uganda, part of the Eleving Group, has financed more than 100,000 smartphones in just 200 days since launching its smartphone loan product in April 2025. The milestone highlights the company’s rapid expansion and its commitment to advancing digital inclusion nationwide.
The loan product requires only a national ID and an Airtel-registered SIM card, with smartphones available for as little as UGX 80,000 upfront and daily repayments starting at UGX 848. Demand has surged since launch, growing from 284 devices in April to over 30,000 by September—a 10,500% increase in five months. Monthly growth peaked at 736% in May and exceeded 100% in both July and August.
Mogo attributes its success to partnerships with Transsion Holdings, which supplies Tecno, Infinix, and itel devices, and Airtel Uganda, which offers new customers 3 GB of free monthly data for three months. The company now operates in all districts and major cities across Uganda. CEO Mikhail Vydryn said each financed phone connects a Ugandan to education, business tools, and financial services, reinforcing the social and economic impact of affordable digital access.
