QIB partners with Mastercard to launch Click to Pay in Qatar
A Qatari lender became the first financial institution in the country to offer simplified online payment processing through a partnership with a card network. Qatar Islamic Bank customers who hold Mastercard accounts can register their payment information once and complete future purchases without reentering their card numbers.
The system uses biometric verification instead of passwords or text-message security codes. Shoppers link their cards to an email address or phone number through the bank’s mobile application. Encrypted tokens replace actual card data when customers pay at participating online stores.
Account holders activate or disable the feature through the app that handles more than 320 banking functions. The platform lets users open accounts, request loans, and manage transactions remotely. The bank said the payment option provides faster checkout while meeting security standards.
Mastercard developed the technology to reduce steps in digital purchases across devices connected to the internet. The service works at merchants that accept the streamlined payment method.
