Music publishing revenue to hit $14 billion by 2030, Omdia forecasts
Music publishing revenue will surpass $10 billion this year and reach $14 billion by 2030, according to new industry projections. Omdia forecasts 9.6 percent growth for publishing in 2025 compared with 5.2 percent for recorded music. Digital streaming will generate more than $8 billion in publishing income by decade’s end, up from $6 billion currently.
The publishing sector will expand faster than recorded music through 2030 despite an overall industry slowdown. Annual growth rates will decline gradually, but publishing will maintain a 5.4 percent average. Streaming platforms face questions about how royalty agreements and artificial intelligence features will affect future payments to rights holders. Billions in committed funding for music intellectual property remain undeployed as market dynamics continue shifting.
