MusicBird acquires Rick Parashar’s grunge catalog
MusicBird acquired producer income rights from the estate of Rick Parashar, a Grammy-nominated figure in Seattle’s grunge movement who died in 2014. The Switzerland-based investment firm purchased producing royalties from albums by Nickelback, Alice in Chains, Blind Melon, and 3 Doors Down.
Parashar co-founded London Bridge Studios with his brother Raj in 1985. His production work generated more than 20 million album sales and 4 billion Spotify streams from tracks such as How You Remind Me and No Rain.
The deal expands MusicBird’s portfolio beyond 2,000 songs from hundreds of artists. Parashar co-produced Pearl Jam’s debut album, Ten, and earned a Grammy nomination for his work on Silver Side Up.
