Spotify raises UK subscription prices again
Spotify will raise UK subscription prices for the second time in 18 months. The streaming service plans to raise the price of individual Premium accounts to 12.99 pounds monthly from 11.99 pounds, with changes taking effect in November. Duo plans will increase to 17.99 pounds and Family plans to 21.99 pounds.
The adjustment follows a similar one-pound hike in April 2024. Student subscriptions will stay at 5.99 pounds per month. Financial analysts predict a US price increase by early 2026, following recent hikes in Australia and several European countries.
Spotify added 8 million Premium subscribers in the second quarter, bringing its total to 276 million users. The company maintains about 15.3 million subscribers in the UK. Research shows Spotify customers cancel their subscriptions less often than users of other major streaming platforms.
Daniel Ek will step down as chief executive on Jan. 1, 2026. Alex Norstrom and Gustav Soderstrom will serve as co-chief executives. Morgan Stanley projects annual revenue growth of 14 percent to 15 percent through 2028 for the Swedish company.
