NAIMOS targets illegal mining in Eastern Region with arrests
The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has stepped up efforts against illegal mining, launching a major operation in the Eastern Region. In the Birim North District, five individuals, including a foreign national, were arrested, and heavy-duty machinery, cash, and mining materials were seized. The operation continued in Osino, Fanteakwa South District, where a coordinated raid resulted in the arrest of 36 people, including 32 Nigeriens and four Ghanaians, suspected of illegal mining activities.
