NBR clarifies no new restrictions at Benapole port
Bangladesh’s tax authority denied on Monday that customs officials imposed new limits on cross-border commerce at Benapole Land Port. The National Board of Revenue said media reports claiming trade stops at 6 p.m. were false and confusing the public.
Goods move in and out of the country through normal channels at the facility, the board stated in its announcement. Officials asked businesses to ignore the incorrect stories and continue using port services as usual.
The revenue agency requested news organizations to help correct the misinformation. Benapole handles most bilateral trade between Bangladesh and India, making it the nation’s busiest land crossing.
