Nigeria Africa trade hits N4.82tr in H1 2025
Nigeria recorded 4.82 trillion naira in commerce with fellow African nations during the opening half of 2025, representing growth exceeding 600 billion naira from the prior year. Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi of the Nigeria Customs Service announced the figures at the Customs Partnership for African Cooperation in Trade gathering held in Abuja, describing the expansion as evidence of accelerating regional economic integration.
The conference attracted 464 confirmed attendees from 28 nations, including 26 African states, with participation from 10 senior customs administrators, 16 diplomatic officials, and more than 70 chief executives from the private sector. Adeniyi emphasized that customs agencies serve as custodians of vital trade intelligence through their collection of detailed border transaction records, positioning these institutions as essential infrastructure for implementing the African Continental Free Trade Area framework.
The comptroller-general stressed that successful continental integration requires African leadership rather than external direction, urging partners to modernize customs operations and accelerate coordinated implementation of trade protocols.
