Nigerian Breweries touts net zero as profits pour in
Nigerian Breweries Plc aims to eliminate carbon emissions from manufacturing operations by 2030 through investments in clean power and efficiency upgrades. Corporate Affairs Director Uzodinma Odenigbo told reporters the brewing company allocated more than 2.5 billion naira toward its carbon reduction goals under the Brew a Better World sustainability framework. The firm signed multiple agreements with renewable providers for biomass and solar installations at production facilities nationwide.
Water conservation projects also received company backing in regions facing shortages. The Olokomeji reforestation effort in Ogun State saw 300,000 trees planted with external partner support to restore local watersheds. Odenigbo said the business deployed over 200 million naira for vocational training programs and built cassava processing plants in Kaduna and Awo-Omamma to strengthen host communities.
The brewer works with Beer Sectoral Group members and the Federal Road Safety Corps on annual campaigns encouraging responsible drinking among commercial motorists. Odenigbo highlighted the organization’s continued use of returnable glass bottles as evidence of its dedication to circular packaging systems and sustainable production methods across supply chains.
