NSDC launches sugarcane outgrower program to boost local production
The National Sugar Development Council (NSDC) has launched the Sugarcane Outgrower Development Programme (SODP) to promote inclusive economic growth by integrating outgrower farmers into the sugar industry. The initiative aims to boost local production, support large-scale sugar estates, and reduce Nigeria’s reliance on sugar imports. The SODP is part of the Nigeria Sugar Master Plan (NSMP II) and provides farmers with guaranteed offtake agreements, access to quality seeds, and technical support.
The program targets agribusinesses, farming cooperatives, and individual farmers, with applications closing on November 21, 2025.
