NCDMB calls for local content to drive Africa’s energy growth
To fully convert Africa’s hydrocarbon wealth into shared prosperity, local content must be central to the continent’s energy strategy, said Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB). Speaking at the 4th African Petroleum Producers Organisation (APPO) Conference in Brazzaville, Congo, Ogbe stressed that building indigenous capacity and retaining value is crucial for sustainable development.
Ogbe highlighted Nigeria’s 15 years of local content success and proposed the creation of an African Energy Services Network to enhance cross-border industrial collaboration. He also praised the African Energy Bank initiative and emphasized NCDMB’s commitment to sharing its expertise and models with other African nations.
