Oyetola appoints Adenike Iyelolu as new Registrar of Ships
Nigeria’s marine and blue economy minister has designated Adenike Iyelolu as the nation’s registrar of ships following a recommendation from the maritime administration and safety agency director general. Iyelolu assumes a four-year term overseeing vessel documentation and regulatory compliance for the ship registry, replacing Tajudeen Giwa after he retires from the position.
The appointee brings over 25 years of legal expertise spanning maritime law, arbitration, procurement operations, and institutional governance from her role as deputy director within the regulatory agency. Official communications indicate authorities expect the new registrar to advance administrative reforms, strengthening the Nigerian ship registry’s international competitiveness and institutional credibility across maritime sectors.
