Planet Fitness hires Sarah Powell as GC
Planet Fitness appointed Sarah Powell as general counsel to replace Justin Vartanian, who departed in June after 11 years with the fitness operator. Powell arrives from GoTo Foods, where she served as general counsel for the parent company of Cinnabon and Schlotzsky’s. She will join the executive leadership team on Nov. 17 and report to Chief Executive Colleen Keating at the New Hampshire-based chain, which operates franchises serving more than 20 million members worldwide.
Powell worked at GoTo Foods for more than a decade after spending 13 years as general counsel at Advance Auto Parts. She also served nearly five years as assistant general counsel at Delhaize America and began her legal career at Glenn, Feldmann, Darby & Goodlatte. Vartanian became general counsel in 2017 after joining the company as associate general counsel from Devine Millimet & Branch.
