PM Modi says GST drive spurs jobs, demand
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that tax reduction initiatives boosted consumer spending and created employment opportunities across India. The leader addressed thousands of young people receiving government job appointments through video conference at a national recruitment event. More than 51,000 candidates have received permanent position letters, as officials have distributed over 1.1 million appointments through the program since its start.
Modi connected recent sales increases to goods and services tax cuts that lowered prices on consumer products. Higher demand from shoppers led manufacturers to increase production levels and hire additional workers. The government launched employment schemes targeting 3.5 crore positions for youth through skills training and career placement services. Digital platforms shared information about 7 crore job vacancies with candidates seeking work opportunities.
