Railways adds trains for Chhath return
Indian Railways has prepared facilities for passengers traveling home after the Chhath Puja celebrations conclude. The ministry scheduled 6,181 special trains for Monday, Oct. 28, to transport travelers back to their jobs following the festival period. About 30 stations in Bihar received enhanced infrastructure, including waiting areas, additional ticket windows, and security cameras.
Railway officials added passenger cars to regular services to meet higher demand. Weatherproof shelters were set up at main terminals to handle crowds before departure times. Major Bihar stations like Patna, Danapur, and Muzaffarpur received these upgrades, along with Gorakhpur and Banaras in Uttar Pradesh.
The railway system established round-the-clock medical stations at five locations with emergency vehicles ready to assist travelers. More than 12,000 special trains operate nationwide, with 900 additional trips planned over three days. Railway stations began broadcasting traditional Chhath music to enhance the festive atmosphere for passengers.
