Rosalía’s LUX sets Spotify record for Spanish album
Spanish artist Rosalía achieved a new Spotify milestone on Saturday, November 8, when her fourth studio album LUX registered 42.1 million streams during its opening 24 hours, establishing the highest single-day total for any Spanish-speaking female performer on the platform. The Columbia Records release accumulated more than double the 16 million first-day streams her 2022 project Motomami generated and exceeded the previous benchmark of 35.7 million set by Colombian performer KAROL G with her 2023 album Mañana Será Bonito.
The 18-track collection features Rosalía singing across 13 languages during its one-hour runtime. Collaborators include Björk and Yves Tumor on lead single Berghain, while Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo of Daft Punk contributed writing to the track Reliquia. The achievement arrives as Bad Bunny became the first Spanish-language artist nominated for three of the Grammy Awards’ Big Four categories on Friday, including Song, Record, and Album of the Year for his record Debí Tirar Más Fotos.
