Samsung Galaxy S25+ catches fire in South Korea
A Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus smartphone caught fire in South Korea after the device stopped charging. The owner posted details on Samsung’s Community Forum on Tuesday, explaining that the phone grew hot in his hand before he heard a popping noise and threw it to the floor as flames erupted.
Samsung’s Service Center has not determined the cause of the battery fire. Investigators lack information about the charging equipment used, typical charging conditions, and whether the battery had been replaced before the incident.
The fire recalls the 2016 Galaxy Note 7 crisis when faulty batteries caused widespread overheating and explosions that led to airline bans and a global recall. Samsung has found no evidence of systemic problems with the Galaxy S25 Plus models.
