South Africa removed from financial greylist
The Financial Action Task Force has removed South Africa from its greylist after the nation spent more than two years under watch for failing to meet global standards on preventing money laundering and terrorist financing. The watchdog added South Africa to the list in February 2023 and required the country to complete 22 urgent actions before removal. The task force announced the decision on Friday as its Plenary and Working Group meetings concluded in Paris.
The greylist also lost three other nations. Burkina Faso, Mozambique, and Nigeria all gained removal from the monitoring list.
