Tata Motors sells 1 lakh cars from Navratri to Diwali
Tata Motors delivered more than 100,000 vehicles in the month between Navratri and Deepawali following a reduction in automobile taxes that took effect Sept. 22. The Indian automaker recorded a 33 percent increase in sales compared with the same period last year. The Nexon SUV led performance with 38,000 retail sales, representing 73 percent growth, while the Punch model reached 32,000 units sold.
The company also sold more than 10,000 electric vehicles in this period, marking a 37 percent rise from the previous year. Managing Director Shailesh Chandra said the results demonstrate strong product leadership and customer response. Industry data showed automakers across India delivered over 100,000 vehicles on Dhanteras alone, generating between 8,500 crore and 10,000 crore rupees in single-day revenue. Major manufacturers reported their strongest festive season sales as consumer confidence reached new highs following the tax changes.
