Tips Music sees slowdown but bets on India’s live and paid streaming growth
Mumbai label Tips Music reported slower expansion as India’s recorded music sector struggles with growth challenges. The company achieved 11 percent revenue gains in the September quarter, compared to 32 percent growth in the same period of 2024. Management expects improved performance from rising paid subscriptions and advertising revenue from short video platforms. The firm released 133 songs while its YouTube audience expanded to 134 million subscribers.
India added just 3 percent to recorded music sales last year, according to the international trade group IFPI. Only 20 million of the nation’s 192 million streaming users pay for accounts. Tips extended partnerships with Sony Music Publishing for global distribution and purchased Studio Radha’s 4,000-track Gujarati catalog. Chairman Kumar Taurani anticipates stronger results from live performance revenue and platform monetization agreements.
