Uganda’s Tooke wins top East Africa innovation award
A Ugandan banana processing program won awards for product quality and innovation across East Africa. The Presidential Initiative on Banana Industrial Development and its business division received recognition for Tooke baking flour at a regional competition. The groups also earned prizes for their displays at a recent national trade show.
Dr Florence Isabirye Muranga leads the presidential program and said the honors show how the country advances farming through research. The banana flour claimed platinum status as the most popular product in its category. Uganda continues building its capacity to add value to farm goods and compete in manufacturing.
