Vertiv spends $1B on PurgeRite as AI heat soars
Vertiv Holdings agreed to purchase PurgeRite Intermediate for roughly $1 billion with potential extra payments reaching $250 million tied to 2026 targets. The deal values the thermal services provider at about 10 times projected earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization for next year when synergies are factored in.
PurgeRite specializes in mechanical flushing and filtration work for data centers that use liquid cooling systems. The Houston company developed expertise in handling high-velocity fluid loop maintenance that removes debris and air while establishing a chemically balanced coolant. These services support artificial intelligence computing facilities where elevated heat levels demand liquid-based temperature control rather than traditional air cooling methods.
Chief executive Gio Albertazzi said the transaction expands capabilities from design phases through ongoing maintenance. PurgeRite serves major hyperscale operators and colocation companies across North America with plans for broader service locations. Vertiv expects the combination will reduce client downtime risks and improve equipment efficiency through better heat transfer. The acquisition requires antitrust clearance and should finish during the fourth quarter of 2025.
