Vitel Wireless set to transform Nigeria’s telecoms
Nigeria will gain a fourth major mobile network as Vitel Wireless Limited prepares to launch nationwide service following approval from the Nigerian Communications Commission. Executive Chairman Kenneth Nwabueze said the carrier aims to merge connectivity with security features and smart technology rather than function as a traditional voice and data provider.
The startup secured interconnection agreements with MTN, Airtel, and Glo, and established a roaming partnership with MTN that provides access to one of the largest coverage footprints in the nation. Vitel also worked with regulators and police agencies to build frameworks supporting both innovation and public safety across the telecommunications industry.
Company directors position the venture as a platform combining intelligence systems with communication services to help individuals and organizations operate more effectively. The rollout represents an evolution beyond basic mobile services toward networks that integrate protective capabilities with standard connectivity functions.
