Warrant issued for Robert Mugabe Jr after court no-show
Authorities issued an arrest warrant for Robert Mugabe Junior after the 33-year-old son of Zimbabwe’s late president failed to attend court proceedings related to drug possession charges. Magistrate Lisa Mutendereki authorized the warrant when court officials called his name three times without a response.
Three witnesses prepared to provide testimony were informed they would receive summonses once officials locate the defendant. Police had detained Mugabe Junior on the morning of October 1 while he operated a Honda Fit vehicle traveling along Sam Nujoma Street extension. Officers discovered two packages of cannabis, cigarette rolling papers, and drug-grinding equipment during a vehicle inspection. He faces accusations of illegally possessing controlled substances and was released after posting $300 bond.
The hearing could not proceed without the accused present, forcing the postponement of witness statements. Court records show the arrest occurred around 8:30 a.m. that day. Mugabe Junior must now be located by law enforcement before the criminal case can advance through the judicial system.
