ACCI calls for mechanized farming, digital agriculture to boost Nigeria’s food security
Abuja Chambers of Commerce and Industry President Emeka Obegolu has urged Nigerians to adopt mechanized farming methods and digital agricultural technologies to increase productivity beyond current levels. Speaking through Vice President for Agriculture Olasetemi Bode Thompson at the second FARMFATECH expo in Abuja, Obegolu emphasized that automated systems enable expanded production while reducing labor requirements and addressing security challenges affecting land access.
Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security Permanent Secretary Marcus Olaniyi, represented by Federal Food and Drug Authority Director Abubakar Musa, highlighted the government’s National Agricultural Technology and Innovation Policy guiding modernization efforts. The exhibition brought together farmers, investors, policymakers and researchers to explore technology-driven solutions across agricultural value chains, reinforcing commitments to strengthen food security through innovation and public-private partnerships in the sector.
