Adani, Google to build $15B AI hub in India
India and Google are constructing a $15 billion artificial intelligence data center in Visakhapatnam, the largest such facility outside the United States. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the project supports his goal of making India a leader in responsible AI development and building the necessary infrastructure.
Google plans to invest the funds over five years from 2026 to 2030 through partnerships with Adani Group’s AdaniConneX and Airtel. The campus will add gigawatt-scale computing power using the same technology behind Google Search, Workspace, and YouTube. Adani Group has committed $70 billion to renewable energy since 2022 to supply clean power for data operations.
India’s AI market is projected to grow from $1 billion in 2024 to $8 billion by 2030, expanding at a rate of more than 40 percent annually. The country generates over 8 exabytes of data daily, with demand for digital services rising rapidly across the region and globally.
