Air India flight AI191 returns to Mumbai after snag
Air India returned a Mumbai to Newark aircraft to its departure point after the flight crew detected possible equipment problems. The Boeing plane landed without incident and underwent a technical review. The airline canceled both the outbound service and its corresponding return leg from New Jersey.
The carrier accommodated 256 travelers stranded in Milan last week when another aircraft developed mechanical faults following landing. Management provided hotel rooms and meals while arranging alternative transportation. Passengers received options for complete fare reimbursement or free schedule changes.
A similar disruption affected the Mumbai to Newark route in August when maintenance crews identified issues during pre-departure procedures. Extended ground delays prevented the original crew from operating the flight within mandated work hour regulations.
