Amul, IFFCO top global list—farmers left waiting
India’s two largest cooperatives claimed the top positions in worldwide rankings, with Amul placing first and the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited taking second spot. Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised both organizations on Wednesday for their global success, calling the achievement a proud milestone for the nation.
Shah credited the accomplishment to efforts by millions of women working with Amul and farmers supporting IFFCO operations. He described cooperatives as having unlimited capacity that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has developed into an international example of empowerment and independence. The dairy industry forms a critical foundation for rural communities across India, which stands as the world’s leading milk producer by combining farmer cooperatives with women’s involvement and scientific methods.
The National Co-operative Exports Limited reached a significant benchmark by shipping agricultural products valued at Rs 5,403.01 crore since its 2023 establishment by the government. Five major cooperatives launched the export company, which handles commodities such as rice, onions, sugar and spices. Authorities continue backing the dairy sector through financial assistance, research programs focused on feed and livestock wellness, ensuring the industry maintains strength while satisfying future needs at home and abroad.
